How can captions pre-answer price and size questions in DMs?

Put price, sizes and delivery basics in the caption itself so the DMs you do receive are about choosing, not about basic facts.

Open your messages after a post goes up. How many say "price?" or "size?" or "delivery to Pune?" Each one is small, and each one pulls you away from packing orders. You can answer most of them before they are asked, by treating the caption as the first reply.

The facts people ask for first

Look at your last twenty DMs and tally what people asked. For most small sellers the list is short.

  • Price
  • Sizes or dimensions
  • Colours or variants available
  • Delivery time and cost
  • Cash on delivery available or not
  • How to order

Your caption can carry all of these in five short lines.

A caption layout that works

Start with the product in one line, as a human would say it. Then a plain block of facts.

  • Rs 899 for the set of two.
  • Sizes S, M, L, XL. Chest measurements are in the second photo.
  • Colours in this batch are rust and olive.
  • Delivery across India. Usual dispatch is within [your real number] days of order.
  • UPI and cash on delivery both available.
  • Order at the link in bio.

Only write what is true for your shop. If cash on delivery is not offered, say so politely. If you charge for shipping, state it. A surprise at checkout hurts more than a clear no up front.

Put the long answers on the product page

A caption has limited room, and long size tables look messy. Keep the caption to the headline facts and let the store hold the full size chart and care notes. In the caption, add one line like "full size chart on the product page". See make a size chart for your clothing store for building one buyers can trust.

Add a size or price image slide

If you post carousels, make the last slide a clean graphic with the size chart and price. It is a screenshot-friendly slide, and buyers do screenshot. This saves you from typing the same measurements into DMs for the tenth time.

Pin the common answers in your comments

If a caption is already long, write the answers as the first comment from your own account. Something like "Price Rs 899. Sizes S to XL. Link in bio to order." When someone asks in the comments, reply with a short pointer to that line.

Keep a reply for what remains

Some DMs will still arrive. That is fine. Save a reply in your notes for each repeated question so you can paste and personalise it. Read how to respond to Instagram DMs about price for ready wording. Remember, the goal is not zero DMs. The goal is that the DMs you receive are about whether to buy, not about facts you could have written once.

What this does not do

Writing facts in the caption will not stop every question, and it will not guarantee a change in how many messages you get. Some people never read captions. Treat it as a habit that saves you time over many posts. Do it for a month, notice which questions still come, and add those to your template.

If your answers keep changing, such as price or stock, that is a sign to keep one source of truth. Put it on your store and point to it, as Instagram is your billboard, not your shop argues.
