Your brand on its own domain

Why moving from a shared link to your own domain matters, and how it works on a Varchas store.

When a brand starts out, the store link is usually the least important detail. What matters is getting products online and taking the first order. But as a brand grows, the address that a customer types or clicks starts to carry weight, and a store living on your own domain looks and feels like a permanent business rather than a page someone put up quickly.

Starting point: yourbrand.varchas.store

Every store on Varchas starts with a link in the shape yourbrand.varchas.store. This is enough to launch, take payments, and run your catalogue from day one, and there is nothing wrong with staying on it if that suits your brand for now. It is a clean, working link you can put in your Instagram bio the moment your store goes live, which is exactly the journey covered in this post on going from bio link to first order.

Moving to your own domain

If you already own a domain, or plan to buy one for your brand, your Varchas store can run on it instead, once that domain's DNS is verified to point to your store. This means customers reach your store at your own address rather than a subdomain, which matters especially if you are running ads, printing packaging, or handing out visiting cards where the domain needs to look permanent and fully yours.

Why this is not just cosmetic

A domain you own is something no platform can take away from you. If a customer bookmarks your store, gets your domain from a friend, or finds you through a search engine, that address stays associated with your brand specifically, not with a marketplace or a third-party seller page. It also plays into how customers perceive trust: a brand on its own domain, with its own checkout, reads as more established than one still routing every sale through a social media DM.

What verification involves

Getting your own domain connected means pointing its DNS settings to Varchas so the domain resolves to your store. This is handled as part of your setup rather than something you are expected to configure yourself through a technical dashboard, since DNS settings are the kind of thing that are easy to get wrong if you have not done it before. Once verified, your store simply lives at your domain from that point forward.

Nothing else changes

Moving to your own domain does not change how your catalogue, payments, or admin work. Orders, invoices, Leads, coupons, and everything else behave exactly the same, whether a customer reaches your store through yourbrand.varchas.store or through your own domain. The domain is the address, not the store itself, so this is a change you can make without disrupting anything else you have already set up, including a live Drop or an active coupon.

When to make the move

There is no fixed point at which a brand should switch to its own domain. Some founders start there because they already own the domain and want to use it from day one. Others wait until the brand has grown past the early testing phase and the domain becomes worth the investment. Either path works, and the switch itself does not require rebuilding your store from scratch.

Next step

If you already have a domain in mind for your brand, mention it when you get in touch, and it can be part of your setup from the start. The Founding Offer covers the first 10 stores with setup done together. Reach out at /early-access.
